J'adore le Decor Colorful Summer Home & Garden Tour 2020
It’s been said that your home should rise to greet you when enter. But we’ve all been staying at home enough this year to know that a home needs to be a lot more stimulating than that. Thanks to COVID-19 we interact now more than ever before with the sleeping areas, offices, and outdoor spaces of our home. What better way to engage the senses at home than through color?
Today is kickoff day for It’s a Colorful Life Summer Home Tour 2020. If you’re here by way of the beautiful home of Jewel Marlowe, welcome!.

How We “Shelter” Small with Big Bold Color Choices
Smaller home dwellers are a cautious breed. We often shy away from more saturated colors to give the illusion of more space. Today I’m going to show you the cool, fun and bold ways I bring color to the small spaces of my home.
Rather than tour my entire condo, I’ll share with you the spaces I’ve been using the most these days. Let’s start with the room where my day begins- the bedroom.
I completed a refresh of my bedroom just in the nick of time before the world shut down. So not much has changed there. Crisp white bedding is our year-round choice. A simple pillow change was all that was needed to welcome summer.
Be sure to check out my bedroom refresh for the full list of sources. You can also read all about how I flipped this vintage dresser.
Mission Small Deck Refresh Accomplished
A quick shower and dress, and it’s a 10-step commute to my home office. This next room was completed for the One Room Challenge and it’s my most ambitious makeover yet. This room measures only 10x14.5, but it packs a punch! Let’s start with that teal blue ceiling.
Don’t be fooled by that dark wall. There’s a bright surprise around the corner. You see, this is actually two rooms in one. The guest room serves as the perfect chill spot when there are no overnight visitors which, by the looks of it, won’t be happening for a long time.
Perhaps the one thing I’m most proud of in this room is the little surprise housed in an 18” x 11“ nook. Yep! It’s a coffee, tea and reading station. How cool is that?! Yes,
Finding the perfect container to store drink essentials was a huge undertaking. One day while in the checkout line at the store I spotted this wood mail sorter box that someone else decided not to purchase. I took a chance a bought it hoping it would fit and it did!
You can check out this room from the One Room Challenge in the office makeover and office revamp posts.
The “Non-Room” Room
Most people don’t give this much attention to the hallways of their home. But we’re not like most folks. This area connects important rooms and the acoustics are top notch.
I’ve always appreciated having a private outdoor space. But it took a pandemic before I gave it the full attention it needed. So about a month ago I completely revamped it. This area of our home was completed just last month.
Large black outdoor planter (one similar) // Striped outdoor lumbar pillow // Lanterns (similar ones) // Geometric yellow and white pillow covers // Gold garden side table (one similar) // Mohave lined black and white outdoor pillow // Rolled outdoor blankets (one similar) // coffee table (one similar) // Japanese style tatami cushion on coffee table (the price fluctuates dramatically on this one) // White raised garden planter // White sun shade for deck
This fourth and final space wraps up this tour. Please be sure to visit the other ladies going live today with their tours. A huge THANK YOU to Jennifer and Jewel for hosting this blog event and for allowing me to join in. Next on this tour is Rhoda at Southern Hospitality.
