The Friday Fix: A Charming Night at the Arts
Restoration Hardware (RH) 3 Arts Club Café Restaurant Review
Imagine the perfect date night where you can indulge in home furnishings while wining and dining with your significant other. No, I’m not talking about thrifting or bargain shopping. Nor am I referring to a candlelit soirée at home where you will no doubt be the one doing the cooking and the cleaning up afterwards. That’s no fun! I’m talking about actually experiencing luxury home furnishings that you haven’t even purchased - while you eat. Yes, such a concept really does exist.
One luxury home furnishings purveyor, RH (also known as Restoration Hardware) has managed to capture this very setting in a way that is undeniably charming - and drop dead gorgeous too! Recently, during a Friday date night, the husband and I got an opportunity to share in this unique concept.

Nestled in the heart of Chicago's Gold Coast neighborhood stands an imposing, 6-story, circa 1914 building, reminiscent of an ancient museum or small university. Although beautifully restored, the building gives no indication whatsoever of the gems to be discovered on the inside. This is 3 Arts Club Café by Restoration Hardware.
This building that once served as housing for women studying the arts in the early 1900's is now a place where one can come to enjoy, history, fine cuisine and of course, interior design. The difference between 3 Arts Club Café and other restaurants is that Restoration Hardware has managed to create an atmosphere that truly that allows customers to experience the furnishings. You are encouraged to get cozy during your visit.
The RH Style
The best way to describe the RH Style is to say that it's a weathered Euro-Mediterranean look with soft kisses of bling and moody lighting. The style is perfect for those who love eclectic interiors. When blended together correctly, the end result is breathtaking- and quite dark. That presented a huge challenge for an amateur photographer like myself.
The gy-normous white sectional near the entryway stopped the husband and I dead in our tracks. For the first few seconds upon seeing it, neither one of us uttered a word. It had to be at least 15-18 feet wide. I've never seen anything quite like it.
There was something beautiful at every turn. Yet none of the "rooms" was cluttered. Every staged vignette provided great lessons in the art of scaling back. No, there weren't a million tchochkes everywhere, but the rooms looked and felt complete.
We wandered a bit more...
Until at last it was time for us to be seated. The server lead us through the crowning jewel of the building, the glass ceiling atrium that housed a restored water fountain.
Again, we were dumbstruck by the views. It was just too beautiful for words.
The husband and I are deeply grateful to have had the privilege of traveling to many places in different parts of the world. To have something of this stature right in our "backyard" - in our city - made us so proud. Below was our view from our banquet seating.
The food was also top-notch. My husband enjoyed a turkey club, while I splurged for the lobster roll. Never, in the city of Chicago, have I ever tasted lobster so fresh. It was simply awesome.
In all, I took about sixty photos - impossible to show them all here, I know. But I hope I have given you a taste of what 3 Arts Club Café has to offer.
I think it's safe to say that this will not be our last visit. In fact, we've already begun planning the next one with a few friends and family.
